Jamie retains his National Judo title

Jamie Spencer-Pickup a pupil at Trent College was recently crowned Under 42Kg National Judo champion 2011 and retains his title he won in the Under 38Kg in 2010 .

The hard fought competition which was held in Nottingham attracting over 160 competitors from all over the U.K.

In Jamie’s Under 42Kg weight category 21 hopeful players entered.

After successfully winning 3 hard fought battles  Jamie moved into the Quarter finals and then semi finals. With these wins under his belt he moved to the final against a strong fighter from Wales .

Jamie’s opponent moved in with three very strong attacks that momentarily weakened his defense, but, Jamie’s resolve was strong and with a tenacious hip throw, caught his opponent off guard and thrown onto the mat. The referee scored the win and title to Jamie.

Jamie is a member of both, Long Eaton Judo Club in Long Eaton and Ryecroft   judo Club in Beeston where the coaches were all very proud of his achievement to win the title in 2 weight categories.
